In this post, V. Nanfito Roofing and Siding, Inc. discusses how this specialty roofing can help boost the energy efficiency of your home.

Insulated Sheathing

The problem with regular insulation is that it leaves 25% of the cavity wall under-insulated, which results in thermal bridging. When this happens, an area of the wall or component will have reduced thermal resistance, which results in increased heating and cooling costs.

GAF’s EnergyGuard™ Polysio Insulated Sheathing solves this by acting as a second layer of insulation. It’s made from bilaminate facers that are bonded to a polysio foam for better stability. You can install this sheathing as a base for siding or for the ceiling.

How It Benefits You

EnergyGuard™ Polysio Insulated Sheathing eliminates thermal bridging by covering wall studs and acting as a secondary insulation to the rest of the wall and ceiling. It also reduces air infiltration and essentially works like a vapor inhibitor that prevents moisture damage. It also boasts a superior R-value when compared to sheathing and insulation of similar thickness, making it the most energy-efficient choice.

Finally, this sheathing is manufactured with EPA-compliant blowing agents and contains no traces of CFCs or HCFCs. It’s safe for the environment. As your local roofing and siding contractor, we recommend GAF’s EnergyGuard™ Polysio Insulated Sheathing if you want an effective and eco-friendly way to reduce your home’s energy bills.

GAF has manufactured this sheathing in such a way that it’s easy to install and can be used for a variety of applications. That said, we highly recommend you work with an experienced company like us. We will make sure your new sheathing is properly installed so that you can take full advantage of its benefits.
